About us
The Clear Group was founded in 2001 with the aim of providing the best possible solutions to UK commercial and industrial customers. Since then the Group has grown steadily through our organic activities, as well as strategic acquisition.
Since inception, more than 48 companies have joined our organisation. These include insurance brokers, underwriting agents, risk management consultants, software providers and a UK broking network known as Brokerbility. In 2023 we took our first steps into the European Union with two strong acquisitions in Ireland, the beginnings of our journey towards continental Europe. As the Clear Group, we directly place gross premiums of over EUR 750 million, with a further EUR 300 million placed via Brokerbility. We now employ over 1000 staff across 40 locations – with plans to build out a genuinely differentiated proposition across continental Europe.

M&A
Clear Europe has significant resources and expertise in M&A. We have a dedicated in-house team that deals exclusively with valuations, acquisitions and integration. We use trusted external advisors such as law firms and accountants who understand our strategy and specialise in M&A to provide you with optimal support throughout every stage of your journey with us.
Team
Howard Lickens
As a founder and currently Executive Chairman of the Clear Group, Howard has been working in the financial services sector since the 1980's and was originally the Group CEO. His primary focus is now insurer relations and acquisitions. Howard is a huge fan of sports of all kinds and loves to cook for his grandchildren.
Mike Edgeley
Group CEO since 2021. Originally in the military for 17 years before entering the insurance industry. He was COO and Managing Director at A-Plan and MD at Capita. Mike has a very active lifestyle outside the office, riding motorbikes with friends or rock climbing with his son.
Andreas Luberichs
CEO Europe and Clear Management Europe GmbH Chairman since July 2023.
Prior to this, Andreas served as a member of various board of directors in the insurance industry in Germany and abroad, most recently as a board member of a German industrial insurer. Andreas is a passionate sportsman and motorbike rider whenever time and weather permit. Father of two sons, big fan of game evenings with family & friends and has been supporting several charities with great passion over the past years.
Pavinder Ubhi
Joined Clear Group in September 2023 as M&A Specialist, now responsible with his wider team for the day to day delivery of the Group’s M&A strategy in Europe. Previously worked at Deloitte London in the M&A Lead Advisory Team. Pavinder is a passionate sportsman and played hockey and football in Berlin for 15 years.
